Mondo Nuovo (2022)

installation

produced by Castello di Rivoli and Beatrice Bulgari

Mondo Nuovo is a video installation created and monitored with Artificial Intelligence. The work shows the possible infinite combinations of images extrapolated from the network and subsequently reworked by an algorithm. Using the concepts of "Eden", "Paradise", "Dream" as search keys, the algorithm generates images that mix figuration and abstraction characterized by bright colors dominated by shades of blue, yellow, pink and green recalling dreamlike landscapes.

The title of the work is inspired by the fresco by Giandomenico Tiepolo Mondo Novo (1791) preserved at Ca' Rezzonico – Museo del Eighteenth century Venetian where a crowd of people crowds to try to admire the images of exotic places projected by the cosmorama, the optical instrument of entertainment popular, precursor of the cinematograph, widespread between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
